In their February, 2010 edition, the community newspaper This Week in Grandview, ran a picture of Jean McQuilkin and Mick Moore crowned Queen & King at the annual L.A.L. Sorority Valentines' dance. We can't recall if the dance was held at the high school gymnasium or St. Christopher's Church or elsewhere, but you'll agree they are a handsome couple. The photo was probably originally printed in the February '57 Tri-Village News, and is now apparently in the archives of the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Historical Society.

Todd Hovermale has added some items of historical and amusing interest to his page. Don't miss it.

The gathering at Wyman Woods was attended by many classmates of '57 and other years as well. In spite of the equatorial-jungle-heat-until-the-rain-shower we all had a good time. See the photos (from the Orr family camera) from the link on the home page.

Around 6:30 we'll have an evening meal. Plans are to order pizza or other fast food from one or more of the nearby joints, preferably ones that deliver. We will have menus available at the park --OR -- you can bring your own picnic and/or something to share with others.

It's to be very casual, no planned activities. The emphasis is on comradeship and good cheer.

Drexel Grandview theater gets new life in 2009. See website.

From GHHS57 reporter, Tony Mesi:
Saturday morning [Jan. 17, 2009] Grandview area lost the Kingswood Building to fire. If you recall the original location of the Post Office and stretching north to Smurr's Jewelers on the east side of Grandview Ave and north of Third Ave. About 11:00 we witnessed flames leaping thirty feet above the roof line and dense smoke that could be seen for miles. The three alarm fire was fought by several fire departments but because of the type of construction with the open attic, the flames spread quickly. Temperature in the teens formed an empty shell of a building frozen in ice. Monday morning they are saying three million dollars in damages and some two dozen businesses destroyed. The Z Restaurant (Old Post Office) may have been saved.
See Joe Wagenhals' pictures of the fire.

The Grandview theater has closed its doors. Read the article from the Tri-Village News.
