Michael Alan Moore

Michael Alan Moore, August 30, 1939-July 3, 2011. Michael Alan "Mick" Moore was born August 30, 1939, in The Plains, Ohio. He was the second of five children of Robert Wilson Moore and May Amorette McCullough Moore. He attended Grandview Heights High School (in central Ohio), where he distinguished himself in football and student offices. Moore graduated in 1957 and served two years in the Army Reserve. He attended Oberlin College and in 1963, he graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in psychology and a specialty in criminology. He moved to California and began a career as a probation officer for Los Angeles County. After 18 years with the probation department, he moved to Arkansas, where he operated a quail farm. He later attended the University of Arkansas, earned a master's in social work, and began his final career as a psychotherapist, counseling clients of the Guidance Center in Flagstaff, AZ. Mick is survived by his wife, Faith; three sons, Ryan Moore, son of Jean McQuilkin-Carfagno, Los Angeles, CA, Lane Groves, Temecula CA, Gil Groves, Carlsbad CA; two daughters, Abigail Moore-Isakson, Valparaiso, IN, Katie Trejo, Kingman, AZ; three siblings, Elizabeth Westenbarger, Athens, OH, Millicent Moore, Columbus, OH, Patrick Moore, Columbus, OH; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and -nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Peter Robin Moore. A memorial service will be held August 6, 2 p.m., at NORVEL OWENS MORTUARY in Flagstaff. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arizona Wildlife Federation.
