From Jim in February, 2019
After high school I served three years in the U.S. Army. I took basic training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and then the rest of my time was at Ft. Bliss in Texas. I was a Nike Ajax guided missile instructor. After discharge I went to Ohio State for a couple of years.
I decided to move to Orlando, Florida in 1963. I went to work for Sears. While working full time I attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. I had 33 hours of mathematics when I graduated because I enjoyed the subject so. After graduation in 1970 I moved to Jacksonville, Florida. I worked for Sears until I took a buyout in 1994. After that I worked for a couple of different retailers until my total retirement.
I have two children and three stepchildren. Also twelve grandchildren. My second wife of 29 years died in July of 2017 from cancer. We headed the Seniors of our church for more than fifteen years. We planned and coordinated all of their trips and went many places.
I used to play a lot of golf but have not for several years. I have a cataract in one eye which will be tended to sometime.
We were all blessed to have grown up in Grandview with so many good and close friends. Great memories.
